How do I qualify for OwnHome?

OwnHome's eligibility criteria is similar to a bank. We look at your income, liabilities and credit score.

We review each application individually, but there are a few requirements our team looks for when approving applications. Here are the things you’ll need to qualify for OwnHome.

  • We'll check your credit history and score as part of the application. This is a soft credit check and won't affect your credit score. If you have a low credit score this may mean we aren't able to help.
  • We take a look at the past 12 months of your banking transaction data using XAI Validate, which safely and securely allows you to share your income and expenditure information.
  • Household income thresholds depend on the areas you are looking at to purchase your home, as well as whether you have dependents living with you. In QLD this is roughly $150,000 and in NSW roughly $180,000. You can add a co-applicant during the application process. We can still help if you’re self-employed or recently took a new job.
  • Verifiable income: While we look for three months of steady income, we’re also able to help if you’ve just got a new job or are self-employed.
  • Proof of Identification.
  • You don't need to be a citizen of Australia, but you do need to be on a path to permanent residency.

We’ll usually have some follow-up questions once we’ve received your application, so we’ll reach out for a quick call to clarify these and get you approved.
